Don’t you just love a Floppy Brim Hat! With its effortless style, this ideal accessory is a wardrobe must. Functional for every season as it provides great sun protection, and is definitely a great go-to for those bad hair days. Its easy fold-and-stow capability makes it packable friendly so you’re always fashionably chic wherever you go.
There’s something so sophisticated and timeless about the simplicity of a black wool coat. This faux-fur wool maxi with its shawl collar has me wrapped in warmth and style and all ready for old man winter.
New York is a City that has always been near and dear to my heart, and because I have family there, it’s always a destination scheduled to happen. In my opinion there’s no other place more magical than New York City during the holidays, however with the holidays season also being my peak season (work-wise), it’s normally hard for me to travel, not to mention all the festivities I have planned. So you can imagine my angst when I discovered Jennifer Hudson (whose voice I adore) Danielle Brooks (Tasha) from Orange Is The New Black and an up and coming Thespian Cynthia Erivo were all going to perform the leading roles in the John Doyle’s revival of The Color Purple, with opening night scheduled for December 10th.
Yep…I was in a New York state of mind and immediately began Operation Concrete-Jungle, to orchestrate a trip. I realized in order to make this happen, I would have to attend one of The Preview Show’s scheduled to begin the second week in November, but trust me…I had no problem with that whats-so-ever. In the midst of planning I also discovered The New York Knicks were scheduled to play The Cleveland Cavaliers during that same weekend, which made convincing my Fellow Road Warrior (Hubby) that this could be an exciting experience for both of us and we could make it all happen in a mere 48 hours.
As it turns out, our trip was successful and every minute of our 48 hours was accounted for. We’re exhausted, but it was worth it!
If you’re in or near the City or planning to visit in the near future, I highly recommend you see this revival of The Color Purple. John Doyle’s revival is artistically genius and could be compared to no other. The performances are astounding…it is truly a revelation.
J Hud’s debut as Shug Avery was awesome, Danielle Brooks as Sophia gave us everything we expected from Sophia and more. As for the London native Cynthia Erivo…look out! This pint-size powerhouse’s performance as Celie was absolutely riveting. I see Tony in her future.

Happy Sunday All, What a fashionable way to start the Season…in a houndstooth print…classic yet current…houndstooth’s masculine tone can be large and bold or small and subtle, preppy or vintage…the choices are endless, but whatever you choose; the print has proven to be one of those to stand the test of time, and I find this lightweight Poncho in a bold houndstooth ideal for the Seasons early chill.
